Subsequent to this, you need to mix them all thoroughly. Always remember not to introduce air in your mixture. Furthermore, before you pour the wax mixture, you can put a small amount of coat mold-release agent on the mold. This is in order for you to easily remove the candle wax.

The next step is to place your votive mold onto a surface line, along with newspapers. This is in order to catch spills. Then, fill the mold with melted wax up to the mold’s lip without letting it over flow. Remember not to have it less than the lip’s underneath portion. This is due to the fat that it may seam lines on your already finished candle.

Another thing to take note of is that you cannot introduce air bubbles while pouring in the wax mixture. You also need to save about 20% of the wax mixture for the re-pour step. Thus, do not place the saved wax mixture under any type of heat.

The third step would be to place a pre-tabbed wick inside your candle. Wait for the wax to cool down before you insert the wick. This is due to the fact that when the wick is inserted while the wax is hot, it will interfere with the wick’s firmness. It is better to place the wick when the wax is just beginning to congeal in order to maintain its firmness. Moreover, try to put the wick inside center and to keep it straight as much as possible.

The fourth step would be to re-pour the wax. Once the wax has totally cooled down, it can shrink in some levels and cause the candle to have a sink hole. With the saved wax, you can pour it onto the whole. The trick would be to melt the saved wax in a temperature of 190 F so as to have the two waxes to stick together. Wait for the wax to cool down.

The last step would be to take out the votive from the mold. Once the wax is already completely cool, you can now remove it from the candle mold. If the wax has completely cooled down, it can easily be removed. This is because it will just slide out from the mold. If you experience difficulty in taking out the candle from the mold, place the mold for 5 minutes inside the freezer then try to remove it again. If it is still hard to remove, you can try to press the mold sides in an inward fashion. Do this as gently as possible while rolling it between your palms, so as to facilitate the candle’s release.

The importance charging and anointing your candles before you use them for spells and rituals cannot be overlooked.

If you wish for your rituals and spells to work to full effect, charging and anointing a candle with a particular oil, or inscribing symbols and words on them, will make the candle and it’s purpose all that more potent.

For example, if you are performing a love spell or attraction spell to try and find love or to strengthen love you already have, you would use a pink colored candle(pink represents love) and then inscribed love based symbols. After inscribing, you would then anoint that candle with a love based or attraction based oil.

The same could be said to prosperity or wealth based spells and rituals. A green candle would be used(to represent prosperity, wealth, and money) and then inscriptions towards prosperity and wealth would be drawn onto the candle. Afterword, an oil would be anointed that focuses on prosperity.

Inscribing Your Ritual Candle

After cleansing and blessing a spell candle, you should begin to inscribed the candle with symbols or words towards whatever it is your ritual or spell is on.

For example, if you are using a love spell and you wish to obtain the love of someone you know, you can inscribed your initials and their initials onto the candle, or you can even use the full name of the quarent and yourself. You can add the names along side with symbols that represent love as well, such as a heart or even ancient symbols of love such as the Reiki love symbol.

You will need something with a fine point to scratch the surface of the candle. It can be a pin, a specialist scribing tool, a cocktail stick or anything else your imagination can dream up. Once you have chosen your tool though, dedicate it properly, then tuck it away in your magical tool chest and reserve it for just this purpose.

As you are inscribing your candle, visualise the outcome. Make it a small ritual in it’s own right. Once you have inscribed your candle, you may wish to ‘Dress’ it. This is optional, your choice entirely, but it’s easy and again adds to the potency of your spell.

Anointing Your Ritual Candle

Anointing your candle would be the next step to properly charged your ritual candles. As stated above, you should anoint with oils that are specific to your desired outcome. There for if you are looking for love and attraction, you would use those types of oils.

The method for anointing your candle is pretty specific. The most general method is to hold the ritual candle in one hand, dip the first two fingers of the other hand in oil and starting at the top (the end with the wick) run your oiled finger down toward the centre of the ritual candle. Stop at the centre, lift your finger off, turn the candle slightly and repeat the process until all the top half of the candle is covered. Then starting at the base of the candle, run the oiled fingers toward the centre. Again stop at the centre, lift the fingers off, turn the candle slightly and repeat the process until the entire bottom of the candle has been coated.

The whole time your are anointing the candle, concentrate on the outcome you wish to achieve with your spell. Experienced spell weavers often anoint the candle in a specific direction depending on the type of spell they are performing. For spells to attract something to the spell weaver, the candle is anointed from top to middle, then from bottom to middle. For banishing or sending something away i.e.. getting rid of bad habits, negative energy, breaking jinxes or hexes, the candle is dressed from the centre out to the top, and then from the centre out to the bottom.

Once the candle is coated in oil, it can be rolled in herbs relevant to the particular spell you are performing. For example, use Agrimony for breaking hexes and returning them to sender, use Chamomile for attracting friendship, Hyssop for purification and cleansing, Patchouli for wealth and so on. Once you have lit your spell candle and performed your spell, allow the candle to burn itself out completely.

Ritual Candles & Oils

Candlemamma has finished her testing soy wax for her triple scented soy candles. First I want to start with the tea light candle. This biodegradable and all natural soy wax did perform wonderfully for tea light candles. This soy wax has no paraffin wax in it. It is made with all natural ingredients.  These soy tea lights burned 9 hours which is normal because the tea light candle is so small. This time will vary when you burn your soy tea light candle.  You also have to remember to leave a little wax inside the plastic tea light cup when its time to extinguish your tea light candles. I wanted to make sure to leave 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch of scented wax so that the wick didn’t burn the plastic cup. Always make sure to watch your candles when they are burning. Please don’t leave your house with a candle burning. Keep candles away from drafts and don’t let matches or debris build up inside the candle holder. There is very little, if any black soot, or black wick trimmings, in the left over wax. That is because I rarely trimmed the wicks. This means the biodegradable wax did help the candle mixture and the wick burn properly and more effectively.

Next test, was the triple scented zinc and cotton core wicked soy votive candles. This was a pleasant surprise for Candlemamma. Both wicks performed great.  The zinc core wicked soy candle burned for 17 hours which was longer than my highly scented paraffin waxed, zinc core, votive candle by an average of 2 hours. The soy cotton core wicked votive, burned for 19-20 hours which was outstanding for a votive candle. I am so very impressed by how these votive candles burned. Very little candle wax left. At first I really wasn’t sure if the votive candles were going to make the grade. After I let the votive candles burn for several hours I knew this wax had the right stuff. No black or white soot left, very little wick trimming and longer burning time. These votive candles were fantastic. The fragrance was rich and was noticed by friends who visited.  Keep in mind most fragrances are a users own preference and some candles fragrances will smell stronger to different individuals. This soy wax will burn at cooler temperatures than paraffin waxed and zinc core wicked candles. This means that if you want a candle to burn longer you will want to check for a cotton core wicked soy candle to enjoy. There is a lot of time and effort that goes into making hand made fragrant candles to sell online and at home. Don’t forget to thank your candle maker for making your scented candles.

Last test, was the 8 ounce triple scented soy waxed, zinc and cotton core, wicked jar candles. Each soy jar candle happily surprised Candemamma. At first the wax burnt unevenly and I really was worried as to the outcome. Just like the soy votive candles, the jar candles out performed my paraffin waxed jar candles. The zinc core wicked candle burned for 31 hours. This is great for an 8 ounce jar candle’s burn time. The cotton core wicked soy candle beat the zinc core wicked candles burn time by 10 hours. This means my tested cotton core wicked 8 ounce jar candle burned for 42 hours. This is fantastic news for you as if you enjoy longer burning candles. Both jar candles left a little wax build up along the sides of the jars. This can be cleaned up easily. Remember this wax is biodegradable. Further testing with a larger cotton core wick might just make the wax build up go way. Candlemamma intends to test this theory. Please remember these are my own personal candle tests.
